Verizon earlier this week announced that they have launched a new speed tier service with 150 megabits per second downstream and 35 megabits up. Pricing is currently set it ($194.99 a month with voice service). Verizon FiOS claims to have a 200 percent advantage over Time Warner Cable. Current FiOS residential subscribers get first crack at the upgrade while small business customers will get it by the end of the year. Some of the advantages this service has come in the form of high-def movie downloads, large file transfers or downloads, and easier online backup service. Unfortunately, access to Verizon FiOS is limited. There are some areas that they do not have coverage, yet.
